Team B Captain: Shoaib Malik
Cricket Match Preview:
When a team starts winning every cricket game, everything starts taking care of itself. It almost turns into an auto-pilot mode. Guyana Amazon Warriors seem to be currently on the same mode. They have won all of their three cricket games so far and look set for another playoff spot. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, on the other hand, have their first win in the tournament but have also suffered from losses in three games.
Led by former Pakistani player, Shoaib Malik, Warriors have won the games while both chasing and batting first. Their batting looks settled and their bowling has looked threatening. However, their star performer in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) so far, Shahdab Khan, will not be available anymore as PCB have called their players back home. However, as Malik has already retired from International cricket, he should continue to lead Warriors in the tournament.
Patriots, on the other hand, have got a problem on their hand. Their newly appointed skipper, Carlos Brathwaite, has not hit the form as yet. In fact, his scores so far in the tournament have been revolving around 0 or 1. As a result, their performance has been quite erratic as a team as well. The shining light so far has been the batting of Evin Lewis and Laurie Evans at the top of the order along with some late-hitting of Fabian Allen.
However, Patriots’ bowling has not been good. Despite the presence of young talent like Alzzari Joseph, the bowling has not fired. The worse part has been that Brathwaite has not even bowled the full quota of overs in the games gone by so far. In the last cricket game, Brathwaite bowled just one over and went for 12 runs.
For Warriors, there have been multiple performers with the likes of Chandrapaul Hemraj and Shimron Hetmyer scoring runs with the bat, whereas someone like Shane Rutherford has been great with his late hitting. If Patriots have to win against the Warriors, Carlos Brathwaite will have to pull up his socks and start performing.
Cricket Match Information:
St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will take on Guyana Amazon Warriors in their fifth cricket game of 2019 edition of CPL. So far, Patriots have played four cricket games and won just one game, whereas Warriors have played three games and won all three. Each team will play ten cricket games and the top four teams will qualify for the playoffs.
