Trinbago Knight Riders almost had one foot in the final when they had the Amazon Warriors 105 for 8 in reply to their score of 122. However, such is the nature of the game that in close encounters one hit can turn around the fate of the entire team or on this occasion of the tournament. Sohail Tanvir finished the game with his six with one ball remaining and forced the Knight Riders to go through the process of playing another game before they can make their way to the final.

However, irrespective of the results, Knight Rider should be disappointed with their batting performance. They only scored 122 runs after being sent to bat first and at one stage they were stuttering at 26-4. They will have to avoid another top-order failure especially against the team that has shown immense batting depth.

Their spinners looked in fine rhythm again and the onus will be on the likes of Fawad Ahmed, Sunil Narine to disrupt the opposition’s momentum. Their fast bowling department, however, will have to pull up their socks if they have to continue the pressure build up by the spinners.

For St Kitts, the game plan is simple, they back themselves to chase down any total set by their opposition. Their team build up is such that one of the most successful T20 player, Evin Lewis was batting at number 8 for them in the eliminator. Ben Cutting, one of the fearsome hitters of the cricket ball was batting at number 7. Hence, with such line up no score can be secure.

This was found out by Jamaica Tallawahs who helped by the fine century of Glenn Philips posted a good score of 191 runs against St Kitts. However, despite no big score from a single player, St Kitts reached the total by consistent hitting from almost all their top 7 batsmen. Devcich top-scored for them with a score of 50 off just 23 balls whereas Ben Cutting finished the game through his 17 runs off 10 balls.

It will simply be the battle of Trinbago Knight Riders bowling versus the batting of St Kitts. If the former can restrict the latter to a par score they would back themselves to chase it down. The bowling aspect of St Kitts is not threatening, and they know it.

Trinbago Knight Riders will take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the second qualifier at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. This will be the final hurdle for both the teams before they meet Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final. As the Knight Riders finished the group stage at the top of the table hence they are getting the second opportunity to qualify for the final. On the other hand, St Kitts had no such privilege as they finished at number four in the points table. They simply had to win all the games in the knock out stages to qualify for the final. So, the equation is simple for both the teams, win the game go to the final else go home.

Both the sides would want to bat second in this game. Knight Riders most definitely so, considering the firepower of St Kitts batting. Knight Riders wouldn’t want to be under pressure of putting any total against such batting line up. St Kitts, on the other hand, fancies batting second. Hence, no matter which team wins the toss they will look to chase down the total.

This will be the first game which will be played at the Brian Lara Stadium in this tournament, hence, the nature of the surface is not quite known. However, considering the eliminator and two good batting sides involved we should expect a 200 run total from either side if not the both. Conditions are expected to be dry.

If St Kitts bat second you would suspect that they have the ammunition to chase down any total. However, if they bat first then they don’t quite have the bowling to restrict the opposition. Knight Riders, on the other hand, don’t have such restriction. However, they would have to be in the fine form with the bat if they have to pose a threat. But considering their bowling reserves we are going with TKR as the winner of this game.
