Cricket Match Preview:
There have been many stories of a team dominating a franchise league. Think of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League but the kind of dominance Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) has had over the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is the stuff of Legend. Out of the six completed seasons of CPL, TKR have been the champions on three occasions.
St Kitts have gone in with a leadership change this season. Their skipper of last year, Chris Gayle, has now moved to Jamaica Tallawahs and all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite is going to lead St Kitts this year. They have had two good seasons in the past two years, finishing on the third spot last year and as runners-up in the year before that. They will be looking to win their first title ever this year.
TKR have also gone for change but at the management level. Brendon McCullum, who has now officially retired from all forms of cricket will be the head coach of TKR. Dwayne Bravo was once again expected to lead the side but will be out for an indefinite period due to finger injury. The franchise has announced Keiron Pollard as the leader in his absence.
There has been some new additions to the sides as well. The likes of Keiron Pollard and Jimmy Neesham have made their way into the squad of TKR. These two are going to be massive additions to an already successful franchise. While Pollard has leadership experience in the CPL, Neesham has made large strides in the world of cricket with his fantastic performances in the cricket World Cup.
St Kitts have also added more firepower to their rank with the inclusion of Mohammad Hafeez, who is a well-known Pakistani all-rounder. They will also have the services of the emerging fast bowler, Sheldon Cottrell, who became very popular due to his celebration style in the cricket World Cup.
