Cricket Match Preview:
The JLT cup has begun to heat up now. The business end of the tournament has begun and all the sides will be looking to register as many victories as possible. Western Australia and Tasmania look set to be in the semi-finals, while the remaining two teams are yet to be finalized. So, clearly there is a lot of cricket yet to be played.
As far as the battle between these two sides go, the two teams have already met once in this tournament, and Victoria emerged victorious by a big margin of 66 runs. If we go further back in time, in the last five games played between the two sides, Victoria have emerged the winner in three games of cricket. New South Wales now have the chance to get one across Victoria and to strengthen their chance of reaching the semi-finals.
New South Wales have begun to peak just at the right time. They were winless in the first three games of the tournament and it looked like they were going out of the tournament. They were also in trouble in the fourth game against Tasmania, when they got bowled out in only 47.3 overs for only 239 runs. But Sean Abbott had some other ideas, when he bowed a match-winning spell of 5 for 43 and broke the back of Tasmanian run-chase. That spell resulted in New South Wales first win by 88 runs.
In the next game against Queensland, they appeared to be in trouble again. Chris Lynn was going all guns blazing but, once again, their bowling came in to their own in later stages and restricted Queensland to under 300 runs, where at one stage they looked like going up to 350 runs. Then in the run chase, they cruised to their total, thanks to the terrific centuries from J Edwards and Moises Henriques. At the end, they won the game by a comfortable margin of six wickets. They have played some good cricket in the last two games.
Victoria’s journey, on the other hand, has been the opposite of New South Wales’. They are coming in this game with two back-to-back losses. Their last loss against South Australia would have especially stung them. They had to chase a total of 266 runs and fell short by only eight runs. Their batting has been led by their skipper, Peter Handscomb. They would want Glenn Maxwell to come to the party as well. Post his ouster from the Australian Team, it is important for Maxwell to pile on the runs, if he has any chance, to feature in the Indian tour of Australia later in the summer.
Cricket Match Information:
Victoria and New South Wales are going to clash in what may well be the battle of equals. Both teams are in fourth and third place right now on the points table. Both teams have two wins each out of five games of cricket, with the run rate being the only differentiating factor between the two sides. The first semi-final will be played on 6th of October whereas the second semi-final will be played on 7th of October. The final will be played on 10th October at Melbourne.

Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Glenn Maxwell has been out of favor from Australian selectors and he would want to make a mark in the remaining games of cricket. Our prediction is to expect a good performance with both and ball from him in this game.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
Pitch is expected to be a beautiful batting strip. Quality bowlers, however, would still be able to extract something out of the surface and make the match of it. Conditions are expected to be dry and rain-free. Our prediction is to expect a high scoring game.
From our point of view, Victoria will begin the game as favorites, despite their losses in the last two games. They have all the right balance and their recent stutter should not matter in this game. Hence, our prediction is to expect a Victorian win.
