Cricket Match Preview:
It will not be a hyperbole if we term the clash between West Indies women and Australian women as the clash of the Titans. When the two-time World T20 champions Australia women take on the current world champions West Indies women, the world will notice. In a successful and competitive tournament so far, two highly competitive semi-finals will be like an icing on the cake.
What makes this clash even more interesting is the fact that the last time these two sides played each other in the knockouts of the World T20 tournament was the final of 2016 edition of the tournament. West Indies beat Australia then by a comfortable margin of 7 wickets in the game of cricket played in Kolkata, India.
On this occasion, both cricket sides have done well in their respective groups. While Australia women in Group B were unbeaten until their last cricket game against India, West Indies women remained unbeaten in their Group A. Hence, if the form is any indication, we have not much to choose from.
West Indies women have had a very dominant time in the tournament so far. They had poor games with the bat to begin with against Bangladesh women and South Africa women, but they did not allow their opponents to even score 100 runs in those cricket games. Then in the remaining games of cricket, they got some form with the bat and ended up winning the last two games while setting target as well as by chasing against the England women in the final game.
Australia women had been dominant in their first three games against Pakistan, Ireland and New Zealand women, where they simply blew away their opponents with their proactive hitting and disciplined bowling. But in their fourth cricket game against India women, they came unstuck against Smriti Mandhana’s clean striking and had to chase their highest total ever in world T20 competitions. Alyssa Healy’s injury did not help their cause as they failed to chase down the total by 48 runs.

West Indies Women
Probable XI (Our Prediction):
West Indies women have been in terrific form in the tournament so far. They know the conditions well and even their batting found form in the last two group games of cricket. Our prediction is they will go with the same playing eleven as their last game.
Here is our prediction of West Indies Women’s playing XI:
- HK Matthews
- DJ Dottins
- SR Taylor
- SA Campbelle
- Kycia A Knight
- NY McLean
- B Cooper
- CA Henry

Probable XI (Our Prediction):
Despite their loss in the last cricket game against India, Australia would like to have faith in the same set of players. Even in that loss, their bowling controlled pretty much everyone except Mandhana. Our prediction is they will go with the same playing eleven as their last cricket game.
Here is our prediction of Australia women’s playing XI:
- A Healy
- BL Mooney
- EA Perry
- Meg Lanning
- A Gardner
- EJ Villani
- RL Haynes
- S Molineux
- DM Kimmince
- TJ Vlaeminck
- M Schutt
Cricket Statistics and Prediction:
Meg Lanning failed in the last game against India. However, she is not a player who fails regularly and hence, our prediction is of a good knock from her in the first semi-final.
Cricket Match Conditions and Pitch:
We have a new venue for the semi-final and the last T20 international game of cricket played here was back in 2013 when Zimbabwe took on West Indies. On that occasion, 158 proved to be enough for West Indies. The nature of the surface is expected to be slow once again and a score of more than 150 will prove to be a match-winning one. Conditions are expected to be dry.
West Indies will begin the game as slight favourites. They are playing on their home ground and nobody will knock the conditions better than them. However, the Australian team is an extremely competitive team and it will not be easy to beat them. Hence, our prediction is to expect a thrilling game with West Indies coming through as a winner.
