Expert Prediction: WI vs IRE
Ireland have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20 international series. They were brilliant with the bat and just good enough with the ball to get a much-needed win. West Indies have been challenged and will need to give an appropriate response to comeback in this cricket series.
In the first game, two of the most popular Irish players, Paul Stirling and Kevin O’Brian, gave Ireland a record-breaking first wicket stance. By the time those two were separated, Ireland had scored 154 runs and were well set for a big total. In the end, that partnership proved to be the difference between the two sides.
Ireland do not get too many opportunities to play against the top sides hence, this series is going to be a great opportunity for their players to garner some much-needed experience. They have been beaten comfortably in the ODI cricket series but would like to make amends in the shorter format of the game. They would be looking at their younger members of the squad to impress, keeping the upcoming T20 World Cup in mind.
West Indies, on the other hand, would be hurting. Keiron Pollard would be pushing his men to be at their best and remove the complacency that crept in their game in the first T20 international.
They have enough arsenal to brush aside Ireland in the next game and they would be backing on that exactly.
Stars may not have aligned properly for West Indies in the first encounter, but they are full of class due to the presence of players like Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer and, of course, Keiron Pollard. Hence, our prediction is of a one-sided victory for West Indies in the cricket game and the series. They are a strong side in home conditions like many other sides. Ireland will have to bowl a lot better than they had to restrict their opponent.
Toss prediction? – West Indies’ pitches have a tendency to get slower as the game progresses and that will make run scoring difficult for the chasing sides. Hence, our prediction is that the team winning the toss would like to bat first.
