Worcestershire will begin the game as the more confident side having finished strongly in the group stages by defeating Birmingham Bears in a high scoring game. Gloucestershire, on the other hand, lost their final game in quite a one-sided manner. In the last 5 games between the two sides, Worcestershire has won 3 while Gloucestershire has managed to win 2 out of those encounters. However, that was for a different tournament. In this tournament, however, they would be competing for the first time.

Worcestershire has been energised by the presence of Moeen Ali. It wasn’t that they weren’t performing without him it’s just that they have taken their game to another level because of him. In their last game, they scored the mammoth 209 runs against the Birmingham Bears thanks to an unbelievable knock played by Moeen Ali. Ali scored 115 runs off just 56 deliveries. That knock followed by his knock in County championship is enough to send shivers down the spine of their opposition.

It’s not that they are solely reliant on Ali’s brilliance, they also have Joe Clarke, Callum Ferguson who have been equally responsible for Worcestershire being at the top of the table. Both have scored more than 300 runs in the tournament. From the bowling front as well, they have Patrick Brown leading the wickets charts. He has taken 27 wickets so far in the tournament with a respectable economy rate of 8.10 runs per over.

Gloucestershire led by Michael Klinger has been very good in the tournament as well. Klinger has led from the front and has scored over 400 runs in the tournament so far. He has been nicely supported by Ian Cockbain who has scored over 300 runs as well in the tournament. They are also not short of an International name, in Andrew Tye they have someone who has been a very successful T20 bowler across the globe. In this tournament as well as he has taken 12 wickets in 10 games at an economy rate of 7.66. He will have to be at his best if Gloucestershire has to go through to the semi-finals.

North group topper Worcestershire will take on Gloucestershire in the third Quarterfinals of the Vitality Blast. The winner of this game will play the semi-finals on the 15th of September. Worcestershire won 9 games out of the 14 and due to superior run rate, they ended up topping the North group. Gloucestershire on the other was the number 4th team in South Group. Gone are the days when there was a cliché that on big day always bat first. Nowadays sides like to chase whenever in doubt. Especially the kind of firepower every team as they feel that they can chase any total posted by the opposition. Here as well teams are likely to chase.

Pitch will be wonderful to bat on as everywhere in England right now in white ball cricket. While the pitch here hasn’t produced mammoth scores of above 220 it has still been beautiful to bat on. Weather is likely to be clear and we can expect a fantastic game of Cricket and a memorable quarter-final.

Worcestershire will be our pick for this game. Their recent form has been amazing, and they would like to carry on that momentum in the big game as well. Moeen Ali will once again be a big factor both with the bat and ball in his hands. From Gloucestershire point of view, the huge onus will be on Andrew Tye and the skipper himself Michael Klinger to give a solid start with the ball and bat respectively. Other players too will need to step up for big games are won by team effort and seldom by one player alone. It also gives an opportunity to a relatively unknown player to rise to the occasion and make a name for himself.
